Join Historic Lewes as we celebrate America 250 with an Old Lewes Independence Day!
Visit the Historic Lewes Town Campus at 110 Shipcarpenter Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an old-fashioned celebration of the 4th, featuring:
- A Punch & Judy Puppet Show, sure to delight our youngest guests and the young at heart!
- Musket firing demonstrations by reenactors representing Delaware’s defenders from the Revolutionary War.
- Hand-cranked ice cream demonstrations, with a taste-test of an early 1800s recipe.
- Tavern music provided by Forbes Road Frolic.
- Colonial Games, such as lawn bowling, hoop and stick, graces, and more!
- Family-friendly craft activities.
- History-inspired drinks and refreshments from our Sussex Tavern and Lewistown Coffee-House.
Admission to this event is FREE, and be sure to catch the City of Lewes’ other festivities throughout the day on Second Street, including kids’ games, an art festival, a boat parade, and more!
