Richard Claypoole is a member of The Lewes Historical Society's Collection Committee as well as a member of the Journal of the Lewes Historical Society Editorial Board as a writer and editor. Mr. Claypoole had a 30-year association with the National Archives of the United States serving as the Director of the Office of the Federal Register, as Assistant Archivist for Regional Archives, and concluded his career as the Assistant Archivist for Presidential Libraries and Museums. His government career began with his Army service in Vietnam. Mr. Claypoole's public service activities include being a member of the Montgomery County, MD. Board of Education, two-term President of the Bethesda, MD. Lions Club and, currently, Vice President of the Board of Trustees of his homeowners association. When not otherwise engaged, he can be found on the golf course, landscape painting or bike riding with his wife, Carolyn.
