History Happy Hours in August

Indulge on Friday evenings for The Lewes Historical Society’s History Happy Hour series.  These interesting dialogs are led by local history buffs, ranging in topics from early explorers of the Delaware Bay to the 50th Anniversary of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.  Every Friday through August 29, these featured presentations will be offered FREE of charge at 4:00pm for 20-30 minutes, followed by a question-answer period. During the presentations, a glass of wine will be served by Rose & Crown, Lewes’s upscale British pub.  Doors open at 3:30pm.

The ancient beam of old Cape Henlopen Light still haunts the local seas and local imaginations in "Delaware's Saltiest Town."

It is the perfect time of year to come to Lewes to enjoy The Lewes Historical Society’s Cannonball House Maritime Museum and Ryves Holt House Museum Gift Shop.  April presents new spring hours for both buildings.  The Cannonball House Maritime Museum will be open seven days a week 11:00am-4:00pm.  The Ryves Holt House Museum Gift Shop will be open every day 10:00am-5:00pm.

Lewes History, formerly known as the Journal of The Lewes Historical Society, is an annual publication that delves into Lewes’s eventful past from prehistoric Native Americans to Lewestowners of the 20th century.  The Lewes Historical Society is proud to announce the release of the 2013 Lewes History, Volume XVI.
