Maritime Museum Gallery Named in Memory of Capt. George M. Elliott

This summer, The Lewes Historical Society honored the memory of Capt. George M. Elliott, past president of the Society, in recognition of his generous bequest to the Society's Endowment Fund. During a beautiful reception at the Cannonball House Lewes Maritime Museum, the Society unveiled a plaque naming one of the galleries in the museum in George's honor.  George had numerous accomplishments during his presidency including establishing the Society's Journal and hiring the organization's first full time Executive Director.

The Society's Endowment provides critical revenue each that the Society uses to fulfill its mission of education and preservation.  A gift to the Society's endowment either today or through estate planning, is a gift that continues to give forever.  For more information about the Endowment or to speak to someone in confidence about a options for giving, please contact the Society at 302-645-7670.
