The Lewes Historical Society invites you to our fall Craft Fair being held on October 1, from 9am until 4 pm at the Historical Complex at Second & Shipcarpenter Streets, just one block from downtown Lewes. Admission will be $5.00 per person, children under 12 are free. This event benefits educational and preservation programs at The Lewes Historical Society.
Lewes is an exciting destination for craft buyers with its wealth of historical sites, museums, unique shops, restaurants and pristine beaches. The Historic Complex consists of numerous historic buildings that are open to the public. These houses and museums, surrounded by trees and gardens provide a beautiful backdrop for the Craft Fair.
The Craft Fair is very well known for the quality of the Craftspeople and the attendance of visitors. This fall’s show will feature new and returning artists from across Delmarva and the tri-state area including Delaware cigar box guitar craftsman Thom Allen. Although his fascination with guitars began over forty years ago in his youth, Thom Allen’s more recent career as a luthier and his passion for cigar box guitars was the serendipitous result of health issues that forced his early retirement. Thom’s craft grew and after mastering the traditional cigar box guitar, he soon began embellishing them, creating his one of a kind musical art seen today. Ranging from classical to whimsical, each guitar is custom made, one at a time and has its own unique personality and sound. The Lewes Historical Society is proud to host Thom and over 60 other talented Craftspeople at the fall Craft Fair, as they exhibit a variety of media ranging from pottery to woodworking.
Come spend the day and have lunch at the beautiful grounds of the shaded Historic Complex. Over 4,000 visitors attended in 2010. Ample parking is available for both visitors and exhibitors. See the art work of the fine craftsmen of Delaware and the Eastern Shore and listen to festive live music.
