Bus Trip to Biggs Museum of American Art on March 8

It is with great pleasure that Saint Peters Church along with The Lewes Historical Society announce a very special bus trip opportunity for our members and residents of the Lewes area. On Tuesday, March 8, visit the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, Delaware, for a guided tour of the extended exhibition: The Saint John’s Bible: Illuminating the Word.

A team of artists worked for almost fifteen years to adorn each vellum page of The Saint John’s Bible in the manner that medieval monks created before the invention of the printing press. This is the first time in five centuries that such an undertaking is visible by the public. Father Jeffrey Ross, of Saint Peter’s Church will accompany participants and use travel time to talk about the history of illuminated Bibles and other relevant information to make the trip even more meaningful. There will also be time on your own allotted to explore all of the art and furniture collections at the Biggs Museum.

In addition to the morning tour at the Biggs Museum, lunch will be at Fraizer’s on the Water Restaurant on Lookermann Street. To close out the day, an afternoon tour of the Delaware Archives and a visit to the Old State House will be enjoyed.

The total cost of the trip is $50.00 per individual which includes entry into the museum, the guided tour, lunch, transportation and appropriate tips.  To make a reservation please call, Saint Peter’s Main Church line at 302-645-8479. The bus will depart at 8:00 am for the Lowes parking lot in Lewes, returning at 5:00 pm.
