Night at the Museum: Historic Lewes Speaker Series: A New View, The Daisey Family Legacy Photo Collection

Lewes History Museum 101 Adams Avenue, Lewes, DE, United States

In April 2022, less than a year after his father’s November 2021 passing, Darryl and his siblings came into possession of a cache of old family photos, many of which were stored in an old gold colored can by their late great great Aunt Elsie Daisey Draine.  In September 2022 Darryl began sharing hundreds of the photos on the “Memories of Lewes” Facebook page.  Unbeknownst to him and his family, the photos offered a rare glimpse into the African American history of Lewes from the late 1800s through the 1960s and would be used to facilitate and enrich the completion of the “Voices Heard: The History and Legacy of the Black Community in Lewes” documentary and exhibit.
