Friday June 23, at 4:00pm, at Hotel Rodney: Dr. Katherine Henn presents, "Mariners Wives' Tale"

Presentation Description:
The Lewes seafaring men are certainly a part of this history, but the focus of this presentation is on the women... wives, mothers, daughters and granddaughters of one specific Lewes maritime family:  The family of Patience Dewolfe.  Along with the portrait from the Burton-Ingram House, the audience will view several pictures of her granddaughter and great granddaughter (now also deceased), with interesting histories in their own right: some drama, some tragedy, some glory, and even some humor which will entertain. While the gentlemen relatives of Patience were out to sea, lost at sea, or on land fighting in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War, the ladies had to make their own way around rough terrain and interesting times.
