The Lewes Historical Society is offering programs geared for children, from Kindergarten through 2nd grade, while school is out for teacher development days on Friday, February 16th and Friday, March 9th.
Visit the Rabbit’s Ferry House, a home circa 1741at 110 Ship Carpenter Street Historic Campus in Lewes for children's story time, engaging learning opportunities, and history-themed crafts, scheduled at two sessions per day: a morning session from 10:00am-11:00am and an afternoon session from 1:00pm- 2:00pm. These programs are free for children and only a suggested donation of $5 per adult. Space is limited; call for reservations (302) 645-7670.
The program on Friday, February 16th is titled, Mini Menhaden. Children will join a school of to learn about the the fishing industry in Lewes’s past. Included is a featured reading of “Fish on the Move” by children’s author Jeremy Pallai. Following story time participants will sing a historic shanty. Finally, children will conclude their lesson with a creation of their own colored fish print to take home.
