2-Day White Line Woodcut Print Workshop
About 2-Day White Line Woodcut Print Workshop
Woodcut artist Fred Dylla will instruct this 2-day course on the white-line woodcut art form. This unique skill was invented over a century ago in the Provincetown art colony. The technique produces full-color prints from a single carved wood block. Mr. Dylla will demonstrate and teach the technique from initial conceptual drawing, to various techniques for transferring the drawing to a wood block, the carving of key outlines of the woodblock drawing, to painting the block and to transferring the image to paper.
No previous knowledge of wood-block printing or woodcarving is necessary. Attendees are provided with the necessary materials including woodblocks, japanese printing paper, and a carving tool to produce at least one modest-sized print (8" x 11"). Just bring your own watercolor paints and brushes!
Please note that the "recurring" date on the LHS calendar is the second day of the course, not a separate event.
