FEBRUARY MUSEUM SPEAKER SERIES LOOKS AT CIVIL WAR HISTORY
The Lewes Historical Society will be continuing their monthly Museum Speaker Series on February 7th, 2020 with a presentation entitled “African Americans and the Civil War”. Historian and educator, Kathy Trusty will be the guest speaker at the event which will take place at the Lewes History Museum at 7 pm.
Trusty, a member of Delaware Humanities, an independent, non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, has been conducting black history educational programs for more than fifteen years. Trusty’s presentation will focus on free and enslaved African Americans and their role in the American Civil War. Her lecture will examine the challenges they faced and will highlight soldiers who fought valiantly for the Union cause and freedom.
This program is free and open to the public and does not require registration. The Lewes Historical Society presents a different speaker on various subjects every month. Each presentation begins at 7:00 pm at the Margaret H. Rollins Community Center at the Lewes History Museum, located at 101 Adams Ave, Lewes, DE 19958.
