Presentation of Original Artwork to Local Organizations, at the LHS Campus

On August 23rd, local artist Fay Kempton presented a collection of her original paintings to several local organizations, including LHS. The Society hosted the presentation event at our Shipcarpenter Street Campus.

Opening remarks were offered by LHS Archivist Denise Clemons, former LHS Board member Barbara Beaty, and the artist herself, Fay Kempton.

The plein air works were presented to seven local organizations including two paintings to the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, one painting to the Overfalls Foundation, one painting to St. Peter's Church, and one painting to local business Touch of Italy. In addition, four paintings were donated to Village Volunteers for auction at their 10th-anniversary gala in December, and eight were donated to Lewes Public Library Friends for sale in the Friends Bookstore to benefit the library.

The painting presented to the historical society is an original watercolor of the Preservation Forge building before its modification into a retail business building. Thank you, Fay, for your generous donation and your artistry.
