LHS Supports Local Non-Profit Community

The 2023 Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival gave LHS a chance to "give back", providing other local non-profit organizations complimentary booth space to carry out their own fundraising activities for the day.

Four associations were given free booth space: Sussex Gardeners, The Historic Lewes Farmer’s Market, MERR Institute (a Lewes-based rescue and care facility for marine mammals and sea turtles), Humane Animal Partners of Rehoboth Beach, and Nurses Next Door.

Overall the organizations had a successful weekend! According to Bet Wong of Nurses Next Door, they raised $2000.00, $1000.00 of which will be earmarked for homeless families with children, served by the Shepard's Office: money for emergency housing, food, clothing, etc., with the other $1000.00 being set aside for ride vouchers for older adults. Betsy Hansot of Sussex Gardeners said that their organization did well in spite of the "crazy weather". She noted, " We can now give fourteen 4H young people a chance to go to Camp Barnes this summer."

LHS is proud to be able to support these very worthwhile non-profit organizations.
