Grownups Night Out at the Children’s Museum April 18th

Please join the Lewes Historical Society for a fun-filled evening for grandparents, grandpals, parents and aunts and uncles! Grownups Night Out at the Children’s Museum invites you come explore and experience the museum in an event designed to bring out your inner child and to familiarize grownups with the exhibits - so you can return again with the special children in your lives!


Merriments will include wines, beer and fine food along with silent and live auctions built around the maritime-themed exhibits. This is a 21 and over event.

Tavern Talks is back April 5-6 2019!

Live the History, Drink in the Past! Join the Lewes Historical Society for an immersive tavern experience where you will be enthralled and entertained by historic garbed figures of Lewes' bygone eras.


Sip on Dogfish Head craft beers; enjoy period snacks, games, and music. Witness-- or even partake in historic debates yourself. Take home memories of a great time with friends and neighbors old & new  along with your own historic souvenir!

2019 Annual Meeting

The 2019 Annual Meeting will be held February 23rd at the Margaret H. Rollins Community Room at the Lewes History Museum at 11am.

Christmas Tour 2018 is in the books!

This year's 45th annual Christmas House Tour was held December 1st 2018. It featured guided tours of 9 properties decked out for the holiday season plus living history interpreters and reenactments, tours of all society properties, holiday greens sale, bake sale, and more! Boos, Brews, and Booze

Are you looking for an exciting and fun adult Halloween activity? Save the 31st for the kids and come out to the Lewes Historical Society October 27th for Boos Brews & Booze.

Visit the historical grounds and buildings at the Shipcarpenter Street Campus while hearing authentic historic criminal tales of murder and mayhem told by living history characters, all while indulging in local spirits and treats. Your ticket price also includes delicious home-style fall foods by area restaurants.


Lost Locket of Lewes now available!

The Lewes Historical Society is proud to present Dr. Ilona Holland's newest children's book, The Lost Locket of Lewes. 
In this beautifully illustrated book, readers join Virginia and Rodney as they discover a world in Lewes that spans two centuries.

Lewes Historical Society welcomes new intern

The Lewes Historical Society is pleased to welcome Katanna Davis as our new summer intern. Katanna is from Kanopolis, Kansas She will be graduating from Missouri Valley College in May 2019 with with degrees in History and English. Once she graduates, she plans on working towards her masters in either Museum Studies or a similar field. This was Katanna's first time visiting the East Coast and she is excited to experience life on the coast in Lewes.

The 2018 Summer Craft Fair will be July 14th from 9am-4pm at the Lewes Historical Society Shipcarpenter Campus, 110 Shipcarpenter Street. 

The fair will feature over 60 artists and included food, ice cream, and live music.

Admission is $5, children under 12 are free. Leashed, friendly dogs are permitted.
