September 29, 2005 - The Lewes Historical Society is pleased to announce the acquisition of a diary kept a Delaware River & Bay Pilot thought to be named "Flanagan" in 1865. The Society was the recipient of one of the most important archival collections in Lewes from Helene Carter Potter, one of the best known historians and genealogists in Delaware. The diary is part of the Potter Papers and was recently donated to the Society.
Helene was a thorough researcher and historian and contributed to works by the Daughters of the American Revolution, Col.
