Volume X - COMING WINTER 2007. The Journal of The Lewes Historical Society © The Lewes Historical Society ISSN: 1540-9317 Click here for Index to Volumes I-V Begun in 1998, The Journal of The Lewes Historical Society is a critically acclaimed publication that is published on an annual basis each November. The publication continues the Society's long tradition of providing both scholarly and popular works that delve into and promote Lewes' exciting heritage. The Journal is created by an Editorial Committee headed by Betty Grunder, a member of the Society's Board of Directors. All the work that appears in the Journal is original and is written by local historians. The Journal has provided an outlet for several of the very best known historians of The Lewes Historical Society including Herbert Archdeacon, Hazel Brittingham, Dennis Forney, Warren MacDonald and Judy Roberts. Original artwork has been provided by two well-known Lewes artists; Ray Jackson, known for his etchings and prints and Steve Rogers, respected throughout the Middle Atlantic for his paintings and models of maritime themes - particularly the menhaden fishing industry. The Society's extensive photographic holdings are frequently used. The Journal is a benefit of membership and is distributed at the Society's October Winter Meeting; for those members not attending, they are mailed each November. Copies can also be purchased by the public at the Ryves Holt House Vistors Center, the Thomson Country Store, Stepping Stone, the Saxon Swan and Books by the Bay. Reference copies are available in the Library of The Lewes Historical Society. For more information or to place an order, please contact us at info@historiclewes.org or call 302-645-7670.
