Scope & Content Notes –

The Friends of the Fisher-Martine House, Inc. were formally established in 1982 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation in Lewes, Delaware with the purpose of restoring, preserving, and interpreting the Fisher-Martin House, also known as the Joshua Fisher House, from the Coolspring area of Sussex County, Delaware. The collection documents the progression of establishing membership, restoration efforts, programming and securing financial contributions; included are the records of the Swanendael Heritage Committee. In 1994, Friends of the Fisher-Martin House, Inc. concluded that they had achieved their goals and on 1 Feb. 1994 dissolved, transferring assets to the City of Lewes. The collection includes correspondence, reports, financial statements, minutes, photographs and other printed ephemera.

Appraisal & Arrangement Notes –

Both appraisal and arrangement were conducted in December 2001. Discarded records include duplicate materials, cancelled checks and used envelopes. There was no apparent original order and a superficial hierarchy was imposed (please see container list, below).
