Extent – 10 linear feet

Scope & Content Notes –

Everett Bryan was born in Lewes, Delaware and became a registered pharmacist working at Arthur A. Morris’ drugstore on Second Street from 1924 to 1940. In 1940, Bryan moved to Dover and opened his own successful pharmacy there; he retired from that store in 1968. Bryan became interested in photography working in the drugstore developing film brought in by local clientele. He began his avocation as a photographer by recording local scenes, buildings and people. The collection contains negatives, nitrate negatives, prints, and digitized archival masters as well as digitized access copies.

Appraisal & Arrangement Notes –

Both appraisal and arrangement were conducted in June and July 2002. No materials were discarded. A superficial order had been established in 1990 when the photographs were exhibited in the Fisher-Martin House and that order was retained (please see catalog, below). Catalog notations are from the 1990 display. Digitized versions exist for access for nos. 1-99; nos. 100- are not digitized. Nos. 100- were not in any order and a superficial hierarchy has been imposed by M. DiPaolo and H. Brittingham.

Copyright Statement – Access to this collection is through place names and personal names; the index provided is thorough but cannot be considered completely comprehensive.
