The Lewes Historical Society provides a wonderful opportunity for school groups to visit historic Lewes and learn about Lewes' colonial and maritime history. Intrepretive tours geared towards schoolchildren from grades 3-8 are offered and meet the needs in your curriculum.

Currently, the Society is developing interactive educational programs on the history of Lewes, Lewes' cemeteries and Lewes'maritime past that will be available Spring 2006.

For a tour of the museums with emphasis on small town life in the late 1700s and early 1800s the Thompson Country Store, Old Doctor's Office, Early Plank House, Midway School #178 and Rabbit's Ferry House will be a part of your itinerary. For lessons about Lewes' maritime heritage, a trip to the Cannonball House Maritime Museum can also be arranged where students can interact with and questions to current and retired Delaware River and Bay pilots. Walking tours of town can also be arranged to show students the highlights of Lewes in a meaningful context.
