Cost: $2 donation per child is requested Field Trip Request Form The Lewes Historical Society provides a wonderful opportunity for school groups to visit historic Lewes and learn about Lewes' colonial and maritime history. Intrepretive tours geared towards schoolchildren from grades 3-8 are offered and can be customized to meet the needs in your curriculum. Generally, the Thompson Country Store, Old Doctor's Office, Early Plank House, Midway School #178 and the Cannonball House are a part of the itinerary for schoolgroups. Weather permitting, time spent at the Lewes Life-Saving Station Boathouse is an experience not soon forgotten by students as they learn the techniques and equipment used by the Life-Saving Service here in Lewes to rescue shipwreck victims. Walking tours of town can also be arranged to show students the highlights of Lewes in a meaningful context. A tour of the Historic Complex or a walking tour of Lewes is complimented wonderfully by a visit to the Zwaanendael Museum to learn about the Dutch settlement in 1631 and the famous wreck of deBraak.
