Lewes' 375th Anniversary!
41st Annual Antiques Show Set for August 7

Dr. Jack Gallagher of the University of Delaware's College of Marine Studies in Lewes studies the offerings at the June 26, 2004 Antiques Show.
The Lewes Historical Society will be offering the 41st annual edition of its popular Antiques Show on August 7 at the corner of Second & Shipcarpenter Streets in historic, downtown Lewes. The show runs from 9 AM to 4 PM.

With nearly 65 quality antiques dealers from throughout the Mid-Atlantic, the show attracts dealers specializing in everything from 18th century furniture to late 19th century sporting equipment as well as everything in between. This year, the show's featured antiques dealer is Peter Goebel of Goose Bay Workshops near Bridgeville, Delaware. Goebel crafts beautiful antiques at his workshop in western Sussex that have been used in movies such as the "Patriot."

The Antiques Show features a foodbooth selling delicious hot dogs, sandwiches, iced tea, sodas and Lewes Dairy Lemonade. This year, we also proudly feature Kings's Homemade Ice Cream. Admission to the show is $2.00 and all proceeds benefit the Society's programs in historic preservation and education.

The show, started in 1963, has been growing steadily over the years and features wonderful antiques dealers in a beautiful atmosphere. Lewes' only outdoors antiques show is held under the cool shade of mature oaks, hollies, cypresses, magnolias and maples amid nine of the Society's twelve restored properties. The Lewes Historical Society has been featued in Coastal Living magazine, the Washington Post, the New York Times and Good Morning America.
