Lewes' 375th Anniversary!
LHS & Quest Fitness Team Up for Second Annual Historic Lewes Kayak Saturday May 10 at Noon

Paddling a kayak through the glades of the Great Marsh is an experience not soon forgotten. Graceful herons and egrets grace the skies and marine life thrives in one of Delaware's greatest natural areas. For the second year, the Lewes Historical Society and Quest Fitness have joined together to bring an opportunity to enjoy such natural splendor. Last year's trip was a beatiful one under sunny, 60 degree skies, exploring Canary Creek. Jeff Pattison, of Alexandria, VA came over to Lewes for the trip last year and marveled at the natural beauty of the area, "It's wonderful to know that this area has been protected. There is something so peaceful and relaxing -- and then the history of the area is just amazing."

On May 10, a free trip will be taken from Roosevelt Inlet up the Broadkill to Old Mill Creek through the Great Marsh. All paddlers should meet at Quest Fitness at noon on May 10 -- paddlers of all skill levels are welcome. Kayakers with their own boats are more than welcome to bring them, but it is appreciated if they could contact the Society as well. Transportation to and from the kayak trip can be provided. Kayaks can be reserved on a first come, first served basis; to place your reservation for the trip, please call the Lewes Historical Society at 645-7670 or email us at events@historiclewes.org.
